PCs for MAINE Program 2009 Participation Activity
-
Another 293 Maine families obtained personal computer access with support and training thanks to the PCs for MAINE programs efforts in 2009!
-
These systems are used by more than 620 people (our users are now estimated at over 4400 to date) for schoolwork, job hunting, skills development, entrepreneurial interests and much more!
-
The conventional market value of the equipment provided to these participants (not including training and support) is estimated at more than $226,000.00.
-
ITE's use of volunteerism, donated technology (thanks to our eWaste Alternatives donors, Microsoft and our other partners such as Maine's Department of Labor) and fundraising efforts (PC MEDIX retail activities/the Belfast Maine community) - kept these families' out-of-pocket cost to participate under $162.00 each - or less than 20% of the conventional cost!
-
in 2009 ITE also invested another $63,000.00 in online training aids, Internet accessible supports and a virtual help desk to support PCs for MAINE families.
-
The percentage of Laptops provided by the program increased to 65% in 2009 - surpassing desktop systems for the first time.
