EMDC's first PCs for MAINE graduating class...

PCs for MAINE and the Eastern Maine Development Corporation partnered in a special pilot project to prepare 50 Central/Downeast Maine people with technology access and fundamental computer use skills through their 60 hour immersive 'Work-Ready" training program.

The outcomes have been wonderful, and the engagement of the people this program serves sets a benchmark for what people can do when given a great opportunity.  Our part in this program was to provide an alternative resource of IBM Thinkpad laptops for these clients as well as 9 hours of computer training.

Steve Ropiak is our (PCs for MAINE's) technology trainer and technical support specialist.  He was responsible for providing these folks with their new computer knowledge, and apparently they enjoyed it immensely - here's the thank you letter the students sent this week...
